The air pressure in balls should be between 7 to 9 pounds per square inch. You can measure the pressure by dropping the ball from a six feet height on a basketball court and the ball should bounce between 52 to 56 inches in height. The rebound height for a women's ball should be around 51 inches to 56 inches.
Basketballs are made from an interior bladder and an external cover, often with a cloth lining between the two. The cover of the basketballs can be made from leather, synthetic leather, or rubber.
1. Leather balls are used for indoor play and are used in professional level play.
2. Synthetic leather balls can be used indoor or outdoor. These balls are usually made from PU (Polyutherane) or PVC (Polyvinyl cholride). These balls can be used to play in wet conditions as the are moisture resistant. PU cover balls are more expensive than PVC cover balls.
3. Rubber basketballs are made with a durable rubber cover and are designed for outdoor play. They can be used to play on rough surfaces and are cheaper in price than leather or synthetic leather balls.
Basketballs we carry in our stock are made from rubberized materials. We have three sizes available.
Senior (Size #7) is the official size basketball (Circumference 76 - 79 cm, Diameter 24.5 - 25 cm).
Youth - (Size #6) is recommended for women and teenagers (Circumference 69 cm, Diameter 22 cm).
Junior (Size #5) is recommended for small children (Circumference 58 cm, Diameter 18 cm).
